Temporary Full Time Summer Program Coordinator Position

Callander Public Library

(35 hours per week, $17.60 per hour)

Expected Start Date: May 11, 2026

 

 

The Callander Public Library seeks a dynamic, creative and responsible student to plan and facilitate the Library’s Summer Program.

 

Skills Required:

  • Planning and organization

  • Leadership

  • Strong oral and written communication

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized

  • Problem Solving

  • Familiar with current children’s and young adult literature trends

 

Qualification:

Applicants must:

  • be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of the work term,

  • be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution or within six months of graduation,

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the for the duration of the employment,

  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant Ontario legislation and regulations.

The successful candidate must:

  • provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of offer of employment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute library programs for all ages, including (but not limited to) a summer program for school-aged children, that encourages life-long learning.

  • Research ideas for programs, establish themes, and organize supporting materials.

  • Collect statistics, evaluate programs and prepare final report.

  • Identify, contact, and partner with community organizations.

  • Prepare and follow a specific summer program budget.

  • Assist with regular library duties, providing customer service, checking in and out library materials, shelving books and shelf reading.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must enjoy working with children and youth.

  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
