Volunteers provide a unique and vital role in the delivery of library services in our community. At The Callander Public Library (CPL), we are committed to offering a variety of enticing volunteer opportunities for both adults and teens.
Becoming a volunteer
To become a volunteer at CPL, you will need to complete the following steps:
Review the Current Volunteer Opportunities for Adults or Teens to determine your area of interest
Complete an online application form or print an application and drop it off at your nearest location
Complete a brief intake interview determining if volunteering at CPL is right for you
Receive an orientation including a tour of the building, volunteer space, introduction to the staff, review of policies, procedures and health and safety basics
Receive additional job orientation and training from the volunteer coordinator related specifically to your volunteer role
Recognizing our volunteers
Recognizing the contributions of our adult and teen volunteers is important to us - for without volunteers, we would not be able to achieve all that we do!
Teen volunteers will receive an official Letter of Reference upon completion of their placement at the library, and a confirmation of the total amount of time spent at the library if the hours are to count as part of the Community Service Hours requirement for high school graduation.
CPL's volunteer program strives to connect youth with the library and offers the opportunity for young adults to connect with other adults and seniors in their own community in a variety of ways.
Our Teen Volunteer Program also provides volunteer roles for students in Grades 9-12 currently enrolled in any high school so that they may fulfil their Community Service Hours requirement before graduation.
By volunteering at the library you can make a difference while using and developing your skills and abilities in any one of the following areas:
General Volunteer Special Event and Summer Program Helper
Assist Library Staff with the preparation, set up / takedown of a large-scale library event. The type of help needed will be tailored to the needs of each event and directed by Library Programming Staff in charge of the event, or a designate.
Geocache Program Supports
You can assist the library with the revamp and set-up of our Geocache program. We need assistance setting up a new geocache within the library, as well as testing the current caches to ensure they’re still set up properly.
Chalk Art Murals
You can assist the library on a weekly basis by creating a promotional mural on the sidewalks outside the library to promote the upcoming week's programs. This would be a perfect position for someone who has a passion for the arts and wants to help contribute that skill to the library.
Dungeons and Dragons Volunteer- Dungeon Master
Help The Callander Public Library run a Dungeons and Dragons program for older kids and teens by leading campaigns as a Dungeon Master every other Saturday (two Saturdays per month). Volunteers must have completed Grade 8, be 13+ and know how to run an adventure as a DM. The sessions will be held at the Callander Public Library, and all required materials will be provided.
Please submit all applications to email@example.com. Include the name of the position you're interested in in the subject line.
